Need some support?  The network plans more protests like this across the city to fight for our communities.  There’s never been a better time to get involved.

What we said before…

Dear neighbours and friends,
This is a wee reminder from the Glasgow Residents Network about two  upcoming demonstrations which we are supporting.

Fight for the Cumlodden Community

Assemble Cumlodden Drive, opposite Evangelical Church,

Wednesday, 27th September
To march to Maryhill Housing Ofice

The Cumlodden Estate in Maryhill has been subject to years of neglect.
Roofs are leaking, closes are ruinous and bare electricity boxes have
been crudely covered over with bits of mishappen plywood, and many of
the residents toilets have been blocked and emptying effluent into
people's homes since the GHA fitted Eastern European pipework which
gets blocked if people use toilet paper.

Enough is enough!  People have been promised improvement works by the
GHA to renew the area and give it a future, but these promises have
all came and went.  Now the GHA wants to back out of its previous
commitment to provide apex roofs which would correct all the dampness
problems many tenants and residents face.

No more lies!  The Glasgow Residents Network is sponsoring a
demonstration to show the GHA that they can't get away with trwating
Glasgow residents like this.

Justice for Homeowners

Demonstrate outside city chambers, George Square
11:30 AM
Thursday, 28th September

Right-to-buy homeowners factored by the GHA have been faced with huge
bills for works carried out on their properties, greatly in excess of
the actual cost to the GHA.  They have been fighting to get an
independent audit into the awarding of contracts and the costs and
have been seeking changes to their deeds of covenant to prevent the
GHA from doing this in future, as well as financial redress for the
bills many currently have to pay.  The council as the local authority
can change the deeds of covenant and provide financial assistance, but
despite continued negotiations they have been stalling on both counts.
